Shonté Byrd is a dedicated and compassionate Senior Associate Attorney with Stange Law Firm, PC in the firm’s St. Charles, Missouri family law office. She can help individuals throughout St. Charles County, and the surrounding areas, navigate through difficult family law issues.
Shonté earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in May 2020. Throughout law school, she worked as a Federal Grant Project Coordinator for the St. Louis County Police Department. Before attending law school, she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work – Administration and Advocacy from the University of Kansas and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Sociology from Northwest Missouri State University. Shonté is a licensed Notary Public and is also licensed to practice law in the state of Missouri.
Shonté began her legal career in 2017, working as a Legal Assistant for a law firm in St. Louis. Out of law school, she served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office. Before joining the St. Charles divorce and family law attorneys at Stange Law Firm, Shonté most recently spent the past two years working for the St. Louis County Counselor’s Office. As an Assistant County Counselor, she prosecuted property maintenance violations for residential and commercial properties, addressing nuisance issues through community engagement, collaboration with various government departments, and judicial actions. Additionally, Shonté provided legal counsel to County officials on property compliance issues, contributed to the research and analysis of compliance processes with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and prepared annual outcome reports based on qualitative and quantitative data. She also provided legal advice to County Departments to ensure compliance with established laws, particularly concerning records requests under the Sunshine Law, and represented St. Louis County in both administrative and civil litigation matters. Outside of her legal work, Shonté has a background in social work and community engagement and is a proud volunteer and affiliate with various organizations.
