Courtnie Swearingen, Esq.

Courtnie Swearingen is a Senior Associate Attorney with Stange Law Firm, PC, and she understands the emotional toll these types of matters can take on an individual. She can represent clients from the firm’s Sangamon County office in Springfield, Illinois.

Courtnie attended Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, FL where she obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2013. Prior to studying law, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Courtnie is currently licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and is pursuing her Master of Science in Project Management from the University of Kansas.

Before joining the Springfield, IL divorce and family lawyers at Stange Law Firm, Courtnie most recently worked as a Staff Attorney for the State of Illinois in the Legislative Reference Bureau. In this role, she worked to draft bills, resolutions, and amendments at the request of General Assembly members, staff, State employees, and lobbyists. She also provided counsel to General Assembly members and staff about potential legal issues of proposed bill and amendment drafts, and conducted research of Illinois statutes, administrative rules, and case law. Courtnie is a dedicated and caring family law attorney who can personally relate to many aspects of your situation, and she looks forward to helping guide you through your case.

Outside of her legal work, Courtnie enjoys giving back to her community and volunteering her time. Throughout her career, she has volunteered with organizations such as the March For Science as the Director of Social Media, as well as spent nearly 14 years moderating discussion forums on the social media website, Reddit. In her free time, Courtnie spends time with her 13-year-old chihuahua/terrier named Molly, takes in all the Illini, Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox games she can, and enjoys a nice ride in her Jeep or on her motorcycle.
